SUNRISE EAGLES PTA NEWSLETTER - will be updated September 2010
March 11, 2010
PTA General Membership Meeting – Tuesday, March 30th at 3:45 in the Sunrise Library
We’ll be voting on the PTA Officers for 2010-2011. Nominated include: Sue Stanwood for President, Kim Sylvain for Vice President, Bibi Van Dyk for Treasurer and April Schroeder for Secretary. We will also welcome any nominations from the floor. Thanks to Desi Gibb and Johna Bowdre for serving on the nominations committee. We will also vote on a revised budget and give an update on our PTA.
Yearbook Cover Art Winners!
We held a contest for the cover art for the 2009-2010 yearbooks and were overwhelmed by the response and the quality of artwork! Congratulations to 5th grader Rachel Leeper whose artwork will appear on the front cover! The back cover will be shared by Danyel Korpe, Caroline Gibb, Ellie McPhee and Bryson Engebretsen. All the artwork will be displayed in the Sunrise Hallways. Check it out and see what it means to be a Sunrise Eagle!
The deadline for ordering 2009-2010 Sunrise Yearbooks is Friday, March 12th. Yearbooks are $11 each. If you need a form, please go to www.sunriseeaglespta.com and click on the forms tab.
6th Grade Camp Fundraiser
Sunrise 5th graders are selling Buono Coffee to raise money for camp in the fall when they are 6th graders at EMS. A 1 lb. bag of ground coffee is $9.00 and 50% of that goes to the campers. Ask a 5th grader for an order form or ask the office.
Family BBQ and Basket Raffle
Mark your calendars for the annual Family BBQ and Raffle – Friday, May 21st. We’ll enjoy a bbq hamburger dinner and entertainment with the highlight of the evening being the gift basket raffle giveaway. All classrooms will assemble a themed gift basket. Kids will bring items to go into the basket and then they will be assembled and put on display. Raffle tickets will be available for sale at the BBQ with the drawings held at the end of the BBQ. More details to come later. If you are interested in helping your child’s teacher coordinate the basket, please let the teacher know.
Family Bunco Night a Big Success!
We had a great time at the Family Bunco Night last month. About 65 people attended, most not knowing how to play when they arrived. After a quick lesson, the game was on and the dice were rolling. Those who attended enjoyed snacks, prizes and fun and when asked, unanimously answered they wanted another Bunco Night soon! Thank you to Jackie Madill and Anna Brown for coordinating it all and to Miss Wanda for acting as Emcee.
Help wanted!
There are a few events coming up that the school and PTA needs help with:
Pacific Science Center is coming to Sunrise on March 30 – Hang out with the kids and help them with the science displays. There are morning and afternoon shifts. Volunteers have been given passes to Pacific Science Center in the past.
Staff Appreciation Week – Help us show how much we appreciate the staff. We’ll provide a different treat each day throughout the week and help is needed planning and providing the treats.
Family BBQ and Raffle – The teachers will need help coordinating their class baskets. Be sure to ask your child’s teacher what help they need. And it would be great if everyone donated an item or money for the baskets. All the money earned goes right back to the school.
If you can help with any of the above, please contact Sue Stanwood at 360-825-4507 or bsrastanwood@msn.com
